011: Better Photography, iPhoto and Flickr
This week we’ll be spending our time looking at ways to enhance your photos along with your photography workflow.
Today, I’m laying the groundwork by taking you on a whirlwind tour of my own workflow: taking pictures with my Canon Rebel XL, importing and organizing them in iPhoto and the exporting them to Flickr where almost anything is possible with their powerful API.
Show Links:
My Camera (Canon Rebel XT) — a powerful yet affordable digital SLR that’s a perfect for someone just getting into professional photography.
Flickr — almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world.
FlickrExport plugin for iPhoto — a plugin for iPhoto which provides a direct export interface to Flickr.com.
Facebook Exporter plugin for iPhoto — Facebook Exporter for iPhoto is a free plugin for iPhoto that enables you to export photos directly to your Facebook account.
Plasticmind Photos — a completely automated front-end for my photostream using Flickr’s powerful API. (integration via phpFlickr)
Tomorrow, we’ll dive right into enhancing our photos with Photoshop.

@Mark: Absolutely. I didn't get to talk about half of the stuff you can do with Flickr. I do plan on fleshing it out more in later episodes.

Good info about photography! Not so much about dogs (poor Odie!).
Flickr has Moo, too, and although shipping is a bit high the Minicards we got from them are pretty nifty! There are lots of neat WordPress plugins for Flickr as well, making manual insertion of images into posts super-easy.
